How to earn $200 free amazon gift cards in a year

swagbucks get free stuff How to earn $200 free amazon gift cards in a yearWe all like to save money, right?  That’s why your here on Utah Sweet Savings.  So let me tell you how I paid for 90% of our Christmas presents this year for free.

My husband is a student doctor, which means that we are still paying for him to move forward in his career and any “doctor” work he can do is part of his education and unpaid – so we really like finding totally free things that we can use for our family.  This year we earned around $200 in amazon gift cards, which we used to buy all of our Christmas presents for each other and our kids.  Amazon is a great place to find deals (especially if you follow all the deals Becky finds here on Utah Sweet Savings!) and we were able to get both educational and fun gifts for each of our 3 kids.  The only thing we didn’t buy for Christmas on amazon is the candy for the stockings and the material to make them each a personalized apron.

Swagbucks has been one of my most absolute favorite finds when we started looking for some major expense cuts to be able to go back to school.  The thing I love most about them is it is COMPLETELY free, no strings attached, no spam in my email, etc. and my choices on what I buy are endless.  Here is how we get the most out of our swagbuck accounts.

First – I signed up for Swagbucks.  You will get 30 Swagbucks just for registering your information.  Every day I check my email or facebook or favorite coupon site etc.  Instead of typing in the address, I search it.  It adds on a few seconds in most cases because I have to choose a link, but hey, I am earning free money, so I’m okay with that.  A few times a day, Swagbucks will reward me with anywhere between 6 to as much as 45 swagbucks for doing a search.  Usually it’s in the 6-12 range.  They just go straight into my account – I don’t have to do anything to keep track of them. I added on the Swagbucks toolbar so I have it ready no matter what page I am already on.

Second – My husband signed up for Swagbucks under me – when you earn swagbucks you can “share it on facebook” and it leaves a link for others to sign up under you.  When they do, the first 1000 swagbucks they earn from searching will be awarded to you too!

This year I had a total of 3 referrals – not that many, but that was an extra 3000 swagbucks that I earned for doing absolutely nothing.

Third – Watch the Swagbucks page (or Utah Sweet Savings – I’ll let you know when great offers come around) for ways to earn huge bonus swagbucks.  I did 2 offers this year that each cost me $0.00 and earned me 1000 swagbucks each – my husband did them also and we pool our amazon gift cards together.  One was to try Netflix free for one month – We canceled ours 3 weeks into the trial to make sure we didn’t pay for it.  The other was a 7 day trial to Free Credit Score – again 1000 Swagbucks each.

Fourth – cash them in!  Once I get 450 Swagbucks, I can trade them in for a $5 amazon gift card – swagbucks will store the GC code for you in your account and you just go through amazon like you normally would at checkout – but rather than actually pay for your order, you use your GC codes.  There are lots of other GC you can get instead of the amazon ones, as well as items, like electronics and more.  So take a look around and see what they have that makes you excited and then start searching!

And that’s pretty much it!  A few things that help to earn some extra Swagbucks – but I really just consider an easy bonus when they come along – is that on Fridays swagbucks are awarded usually in larger amounts and more often.  Occasionally swagbucks will offer “gimme” codes that are worth around 7 free swagbucks.  If I find those I will post them here on Utah Sweet Savings.

If you aren’t using Swagbucks yet, you can sign up here.

About Becky

I am the frugal minded mom to two adorable little girls and wife to an amazing husband. They are my number one priority. I have been going through a major weight loss journey and have lost 100 pounds! I'm still losing weight but my focus is in living healthy and doing it on a budget. I have always loved finding a great deal. I can remember clipping coupons and rebates with my grandma as a very little girl. Now, as a wife to a hard working Jr High teacher, saving money and being frugal is a necessity. I love being able to provide things for my family that we need and want without breaking our budget in the process.
