Looking for awesome “staycation” ideas in the Salt Lake Area? I’ve got a fabulous and easy itinerary for you. Plus, you’ll get some great deals too.

You guys know how much I love to travel. But whether it’s for Valentine’s Day or just a fun night out with the girls, sometimes it’s nice to just stay near home. I recently took one of these much-needed GNO in Salt Lake and we had a blast.

So here’s my itinerary for your next over-nighter in Salt Lake City.

Shopping at City Creek Center

Start your evening off right with a little shopping at City Creek Center. Located in the heart of Salt Lake City, you can’t go wrong with all of the awesome shops. There is something for everyone. The food choices are great and the atmosphere is spectacular. While you are there, be sure to get a view of Temple Square. You can even walk across the street and view the grounds for free.

Here’s an extra nugget that you might not know. If you are traveling in the winter, don’t worry about it being too cold. The ground is heated from below. Also, look around at the walls. The stone was quarried from here in Utah and you can see all sorts of fossils and trilobites in the walls. So cool!

Dinner at Christophers Steakhouse

I’ve known about Christophers Steakhouse for years, but this was my first chance to enjoy all they have to offer. Their steak is incredible. I was also super impressed with the salmon. I have spent many summers in Alaska and have had fresh salmon off the boat. I was impressed by the flavor and freshness of this salmon. I will for sure be going back again.

Be sure to try an appetizer or two while you are there. I HIGHLY recommend the Lobster Corndogs. Also, the Creamed Spinach was my favorite side dish.

Want a deal? Right now there is a Groupon that will get you $70 worth for $40.50. Also, watch for extra discount codes that will save you even more!

Super Fun Activity at Live Game Escape

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect when I found out that we were going to go to an “escape room activity.” I don’t like scary. Like AT ALL. So I was a little nervous, but after reading reviews about Live Game Escape, I decided to give it a chance. I’m SO GLAD that I did. It was so much fun!!

You are put in a room with your group and given an hour to find clues that will help you get out. I’m not going to lie, it was hard. Super tricky at times (they will give you hints if you need it) and so much fun. We felt such a sense of accomplishment when we all worked together and got ourselves out of the room. Totally winning moment!

Guess what, Groupon also has a deal for Live Game Escape. Remember to watch for extra discount codes to save even more!

Brunch at Pig & a Jelly Jar

Of course, you will need to have brunch the next morning to top off your fun staycation. I always love to check out local hot spots. Pig & a Jelly Jar fits the bill! They are busy, for a good reason, the food is amazing and the ambiance is so much fun. We loved everything we tried.

I personally tried “The Kitchen Sink.” You tell me, doesn’t it look amazing?!! They have three locations. I plan on visiting them all for sure. One on 900 South in Salt Lake City, another in Holladay, and of course their popular location on 25th Street in Ogden.

Last tip of the day. Make sure to take a few seconds to get some fun pictures of you and your friends. Salt Lake City has so much to offer. What are your favorite staycation spots?
