I must say, Ubooly has won the hearts of all three of my children! We shared the new Ubooly toy with you a couple weeks ago, and again last week after this darling toy was featured on The Today ShowUbooly wants to spread the word about this unique toy, so they sent me one to review with my children.

First of all, my kids were ECSTATIC to get to open a box just a couple weeks before Christmas and find a toy inside. My 4-year-old daughter immediately grabbed it and said in her darling little voice, “Aw, it’s so cute and soft!” and my 6-year-old daughter, who had seen the video dashed away to get the iPod. We quickly and easily downloaded the free app, entered the code, inserted the iPod into the fuzzy pocket, and woke up the Ubooly. Then the fun began! Within minutes of opening the box, we were all having fun with our Ubooly.

The Ubooly came with an adoption certificate, so I had the girls raise their right hands and solemnly swear to take care of their new Ubooly. We discussed what we should name it, and my oldest daughter wanted the name to do with Christmas, since it arrived during Christmastime. Rudolph, Snowflake, and Frosty just didn’t seem right. We delved into color names, Carrot (like Frosty’s nose), Orange (just because), and then I had a thought. We love Little Cuties at our house. “How about Clementine?” I suggested. “Like those little oranges that we eat during the winter?” Yes! The name idea was a hit with both girls, and Clementine it was. My oldest carefully wrote the name on the adoption certificate: “Clementine Williams.” Oh, and we decided “it” was a “she” because the voice is soft like a girl voice.

Each of my children like to do different activities with Clementine the Ubooly.

  • My 6-year-old daughter likes to speak to it, and loves to hear Clementine tell jokes, which apparently is a standard trait of all Ubooly toys. The Ubooly understands phrases such as “Play a game” and “Tell me a story,” creating endless creative and fun opportunities for children.
  • To switch activities, simply double-tap the screen. My 4-year-old likes to ask the Ubooly to play her Chipmunk music (it will play whatever is already on your iPod), and watch the Ubooly dance.
  • Even my 22-month-old son loves Clementine the Ubooly. He doesn’t get to spend much time with her, but when he does, he smiles from ear to ear and will toss her. Clementine the Ubooly will squeal, and my boy will giggle. Now, while this is cute, it does concern me that he’s essentially tossing a $200+ toy, since there is an iPod inside. The Ubooly is VERY well cushioned, however, so unless it landed just right on something and broke the screen, I think (hope) it will be okay. *Note: The toy is NOT designed to be played with by 2-year-old children. I just have trouble not giving the little man everything he wants.

I keep forgetting to take photos of my kids playing with our Ubooly, but as soon as I do I will post them here for you to see how much they love Clementine. Until I do, check out this video!
