marvel universe live review and discount

We went to Marvel Universe Live last night, and let me tell you, it is the event of the weekend in Salt Lake, and you don’t want to miss it! I’ve been looking forward to this show for months, and it didn’t disappoint!

The story starts with Thor having shattered the highly coveted Cosmic Cube, into 3 pieces, believing no one person should have that much power and to keep it out of the wrong hands. Of course, Thor’s brother and mega villain Loki gets a hold of dust from it and begins to create a new one, powering it with a couple of Wolverine’s X-Men buddies Storm and Cyclops. Pretty soon, all the bad guys in the universe, from Green Goblin to Madame Hydra have possession of the fragments, and it’s up to our favorite super heroes, The Avengers along with Spider-Man and Wolverine to restore order.

If you’re worried it might be too intense for your little ones, don’t be. My kids ages 2-9 all thoroughly enjoyed it and gave it two thumbs up. There are fight scenes, but it’s NOTHING like fight scenes you might see in the movies. Although they are real actors, it is portrayed more like a Saturday morning cartoon than a blockbuster PG-13 movie. The clip above gives you a good idea of what to expect. If your child is sensitive to noise, you might want ear protection, although then you’d miss out on the dialog between the actors. We were just fine without it.

By FAR, the best actor of the night award went to Spider-Man. He was so fun to watch with flips and leaps and all sorts of other tricks. Seriously, this guy was a bundle full of energy. I have no idea how he kept it up all night like he did.

The use of video projection in the show was really awesome. This clip shows you just a tiny bit of it. It was used throughout in different ways to enhance the performance.

There were also plenty of exciting pyrotechnics that kept you on the edge of your seat, wondering when the next explosion would occur.

The only disappointment I had the entire night was the Hulk. It’s not often that Bruce Banner is tougher than the Hulk, but he was in this performance. When the Hulk finally came out, I was reminded a bit of my toddler running with her arms flapping wildly. He was very comical, and although big and green, he wasn’t the scary monster he should have been.

Bruce made up for the Hulk’s lack of coolness, though as he rode motor bikes and had no problem keeping up with Wolverine, climbed snowy mountains, and practiced meditating to keep his cool. Go Banner!

In all, this is a fun, exciting show for the entire family, and I highly recommend attending!
