Spending Christmas morning with my husband, kids and parents exactly like I did growing up with my parents and grandparents!
Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, we head off into the mountains with a permit to find the perfect Christmas Tree. Then drag it home and break out the decorations while playing the Christmas music and breaking out the Hot chocolate and spiced cider. It’s been our tradition for generations. Love it!!
Our favorite tradition is attending a Christmas Concert and a Musical about the Savior.
Coming from a Dutch family, we have a cheese platter, sing Christmas carols and open family gifts on Christmas Eve. This tradition has carried over since getting married and starting a family of my own.
Christmas Eve we open our ‘pajama’ presents then change. After that we drive E around looking at X-mas lights. When we get home it’s hot chocolate and a X-mas movie!

Our Advent calendar contains fun activities we do together all month long. This book would be awesome to incorporate into our traditions!
One of our favorite family traditions is the called “The Ball of fun”. Everybody participates in this each Christmas Eve. This tradition has been passed down for 3 generations. One person is respoible for creating the ball. Using crepe paper (like the stuff you use to decorate that comes in a roll) you start by wrapping the last item you want unwrapped. We put candy, songs, scripture quotes, gifts, and games all inside the all. Work in a criss cross pattern to cover as much surface area as possible. keeping wrapping around and around and add items to the crepe paper. When finished it looks almost the size of a soccer ball. We all sit in a circle on Christmas eve. The ball of fun is rolled to each person as it upwraps. If a item is there when the all gets to you you get to read the instructions, sing the song, or eat the treat. It takes about 2 hours to unwrap.
We stay up until midnight and drink Peruvian hot chocolate and open one family gift together. We started doing this as a compromise because my mom is Peruvian and they traditionally do ALL the celebrating at midnight. 🙂
