We have all been there, no time to cook so you run to the freezer and pull out whatever frozen, pre made item that takes the least amount of time to cook. We fry it up, bake it up, nuke it up and serve it up! The kids usually love it because it tastes good, but usually the things that taste good aren’t always good for us. On nights like these I myself feel guilty for not preparing a healthy home cooked meal, instead filling up my kids tummies with preservatives and cholesterol a plenty! I don’t know if corn dogs, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and dehydrated noodles should even qualify as food. None the less when time is short these are the kinds of foods we turn to because they are quick and easy to prepare.
There is a new company that wants to change this scenario for busy parents. It’s called Frozen Naked. They have created a healthy convenience food option for us YaY! They call it Naked Pizza!
Naked Pizza is not just your average frozen pizza! It’s a whole food option that actually tastes great! There are many so called “healthy food” options that look great on the packaging but they taste just awful in my opinion. If it doesn’t taste good then why buy it your just wasting your money.
What makes a Pizza Naked? Well my kids thought it meant they had to be naked to eat it, hahaha! I assured them that was not the case they were very glad about that! Naked Pizza is stripped down to the real ingredients, no additives, colorants or any weird chemical preservatives. The crust consists of ten grains and seeds plus agave fiber and healthful bacteria like the ones found in yogurt for balance and digestion. The grains they use include oats, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, teff, spelt, tapioca, and two kinds of wheat. You don’t have to eat two or three pizzas to feel satisfied. Because of the diversity of the grains used in the crust you feel satisfied after just a few slices. One serving size is half of a pizza, pair it with a green salad and you have a healthy meal in minutes or a great after school snack for the kids.
Below are the Nutrition facts for the Superbiotic Pizza which happened to be my favorite.
I baked three pizzas for my family to try. I didn’t tell them before hand that it was a “different” kind of pizza. I didn’t want them to have a pre judgment before they tasted it. My kids and my husband are very picky, mostly because they are used to my good home cooken not that they are selective in what they eat. They just know what good food is supposed to taste like 🙂 We were able to try the Chicken Pizza with roasted red bell peppers and sweet yellow onions. Also the Uncured Pepperoni Pizza and the Superbiotic Pizza (all veges). The pepperoni was my husbands favorite and the kids loved the chicken the most. The only flavor we didn’t try was the cheese pizza.
This is the Superbiotic Pizza topped with artichokes, roasted red bell peppers, sweet red onions, spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic and cilantro. I love cilantro I think that’s why this won my taste buds over!
This is the Uncured Pepperoni Pizza which means there are no nitrates or nitrites added except that which naturally occurs in sea salt. I was so surprised when it didn’t come out full of grease like most pepperoni pizzas do. In fact none of these pizzas were greasy!
